Make a Dedication

וְיִתֶּן־לִ֗י אֶת־מְעָרַ֤ת הַמַּכְפֵּלָה֙ אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר בִּקְצֵ֣ה שָׂדֵ֑הוּ בְּכֶ֨סֶף מָלֵ֜א יִתְּנֶ֥נָּה לִ֛י בְּתוֹכְכֶ֖ם לַאֲחֻזַּת־קָֽבֶר׃
Let him sell me the cave of Machpelah that he owns, which is at the edge of his land. Let him sell it to me, at the full price, for a burial site in your midst.”
Avraham found out about the cave and its contents when the 3 angels came to visit him.
While preparing food for the angels, one cow escaped and ran into the cave. An amazing fragrance emanated from it and he saw Adam and Chava’s tombs.
Hashem would also speak with him there and he therefore longed to be buried there (Pirkei deRabbi Eliezer, Zohar on Vayera, Yalkut Reuveni)
