וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח יַעֲקֹ֤ב מַלְאָכִים֙ לְפָנָ֔יו אֶל־עֵשָׂ֖ו אָחִ֑יו אַ֥רְצָה שֵׂעִ֖יר שְׂדֵ֥ה אֱדֽוֹם׃
Jacob sent messengers ahead to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
One of the reasons Esav established himself in Seir, in Edom’s field, was to never forget that Yakov wore a seir/goat skin when he tricked Yitzchak into giving him the blessing.
Edom/Red, was a reminder of the red stew that he sold his birthright for.
