There we were binding sheaves in the field, when suddenly my sheaf stood up and remained upright; then your sheaves gathered around and bowed low to my sheaf.
We are taught that having the same dream twice in one night is a sign that it will come about in the near future. Having the same dream on two different nights, however, is a sign that it will come about in the distant future.
This is why, in the case of Yosef, his dreams only materialized 22 years later.
Some say that the fulfillment of Yosef’s dreams was delayed because the brothers caused Yosef a type of “evil-eye” (known as a “kitrug”) when he told them his dreams, since a dream’s interpretation goes after the way it is interpreted, in Yosef's case, negatively.
