September 23, 2018
Did you know...?
Ch.1, vs.7
How many firmaments were created?
וַיַּ֥רְא ה' וַיִּנְאָ֑ץ מִכַּ֥עַס בָּנָ֖יו וּבְנֹתָֽיו׃
The LORD saw and was vexed And spurned His sons and His daughters.
It is generally accepted that there are seven firmaments, named as follows:
Vilon (the brightest of all).
Rakia (where the sun, moon, stars and planets are found).
Shechakim (the source of mercy in the world and where the manna is stored for the righteous in the World to Come).
Zevul (it is guarded by the angel Gavriel and contains the “Upper Jerusalem” and Supernatural Temple).
Maon (where myriads of angels sing praises to God all night long).
Machon (which contains chambers, fires, evil clouds, dew, hurricanes, tornadoes, and poisonous waters).
Aravot (which contains life, peace, blessings and success, souls of the righteous unborn and those who successfully completed their worldly journey, and good dew with which the dead will be resurrected).
(Chagigah 12b, Rabenu Bachya, Zohar Chadash, Cf. Yalkut, Zohar Rakia)
