Rabbi Eytan Yehudah Dzikowski
How did Yosef assign the seating for his brothers at the banquet?
As they were seated by his direction, from the oldest in the order of his seniority to the youngest in the order of his youth, the men looked at one another in astonishment.
Yosef assigned the seating at the banquet, according to age and who belonged to which mother with the “help” of his “magic goblet.”
He would tap the goblet and then call out each brother’s name and the name of his mother.
The brothers were shocked by Yosef’s accuracy.
The sons of Leah were seated on one side and the sons of Zilpa were seated on the other side. Benjamin was seated beside Yosef.
