Which Aaron is this verse referring to?
בָּעֵ֨ת הַהִ֜וא אָמַ֧ר יְהוָ֣ה אֵלַ֗י פְּסָל־לְךָ֞ שְׁנֵֽי־לֻוחֹ֤ת אֲבָנִים֙ כָּרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים וַעֲלֵ֥ה אֵלַ֖י הָהָ֑רָה וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ לְּךָ֖ אֲר֥וֹן עֵֽץ׃
Thereupon the LORD said to me, “Carve out two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to Me on the mountain; and make an ark of wood.
This refers to the Aron that Moshe made, not the one that Bezalel made.
Hashem asked Moshe to build this Aron to hold the second Tablets of the Ten Commandments as well as the pieces of the broken first Tablets.
This is also the Aron which accompanied the Bnai Yisrael into battle.
Some say that the two Aronot were never used at the same time. According to this approach, once the permanent Aron was made, it was used to hold both sets of Tablets and the first one was hidden away.
