You stand this day, all of you, before the LORD your God, your tribal heads, your elders and your officials, all the men of Israel.
The word “atem/you” shares the same letters as the word “emet/truth.”
This teaches us that truth is a prerequisite for the Jewish people to “stand proudly.”
It was only now, just prior to entering the Holy Land, that the Bnei Yisrael were able to truly “stand” proud as a wholesome nation.
This was partly due to the fact that, by this time, the erev rav had been completely eliminated from among the Bnei Yisrael. Some were killed and some went off on their separate ways. This is alluded to by the fact that they are not mentioned in the next verse.
