Realizing that his brothers were willing to take extreme measures, Yosef had Menashe call in 50 heavily armed horsemen and 10,000 foot soldiers, including 400 powerful fighters so well trained in martial arts that they didn't need any weapons. Menashe ordered them to frighten the brothers but not actually attack them.
The brothers were indeed frightened.Yehudah, however, laughed, drew out his sword, and let out terrifying cries that made everyone present flee and made many women miscarry.
Yosef had Menashe put his hand on Yehudah’s shoulder and subdue him. This was very confusing for Yehuda, as he knew that only members of his family had such strength.
After these events, the brothers began to suspect that this was Yosef. Yehudah was already certain of it but waited patiently to see how things would turn out.
Everyone, even the Egyptians who were present, began begging Yosef to have mercy.
