These are the vestments they are to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a fringed tunic, a headdress, and a sash. They shall make those sacral vestments for your brother Aharon and his sons, for priestly service to Me;
The Kohanim’s garments had to be made out of materials that were donated by the entire nation.
A Kohen was not allowed to wear anything other than his priestly clothes while performing his service. This helped ensure that there would not be any “chatzitza/interposition,” between his skin and his clothes.
The garments of the Kohanim were custom made. This is because every Kohen had to have his own set of garments made especially for him.
